ABOUT ME
Hi! My name is Chalo. I will be your Disabled Students' Campaign Officer for 2024-25.
My campaigning, lobbying, advocacy and relationship-building will aim to contribute to ongoing efforts at shifts in culture within the Collegiate University with the ultimate aim of realising the idea and reality of One Cambridge--that is, a vision of Cambridge as One Community. With your support, and hopefully within the framework of University-wide initiatives already underway, I intend to work for a narrowing of the experiences of Cambridge that able-bodied and physically disabled students and neurodivergent and non-neurodivergent students have. In concrete terms, I will, among other things, lobby to concentrate minds around the need for alternative, equitable and reliable hardship funds for disabled students who are not permitted to apply for Personal Independence Payments and/or Disabled Students' Allowances. I believe that a key part of my role is to act as a listening post for student concerns and needs and funnel these into the University's decision-making centres. Please get in touch with any suggestions that you might have. I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible!
