We stand in solidarity with Seun Twins and Durham SU in the face of reprehensible attacks and abuse from national newspapers. The choice to publish a racist and sexist hit-piece is politically motivated and made in the knowledge that it will unleash appalling abuse.
Students and their SUs have become targets for those who want to silence marginalised people, so it’s no surprise that these attacks so often fall on women of colour. Seun and all those in Durham who have been standing up against transphobia and racism should be proud of their work and of refusing to be bullied. The rest of the student movement will always have their backs.
