In 1928, the Newnham Arts Society invited Virginia Woolf to address the college on 'Women and Fiction,' a talk that would later form the basis for A Room of One’s Own. Since then, the society has aimed to host a diverse programme of events, featuring renowned speakers from across the arts.
In 2024, the Newnham Arts Society has been revived. We host OPEN-TO-ALL talks, screenings, exhibitions and concerts featuring the works of women artists across art, film, literature and music.
