In 1928, the Newnham Arts Society invited Virginia Woolf to address the college on 'Women and Fiction,' a talk that would later form the basis for A Room of One’s Own. Since then, the society has aimed to host a diverse programme of events, featuring renowned speakers from across the arts.
Today, the Newnham Arts Society is being revived to continue its tradition of offering rich and varied programmes, such as screenings, talks, concerts and exhibitions, all focused on celebrating women's art. Our termly programme is divided into four key areas: film, literature, visual art, and music.
