About

The Cambridge Climate Society is dedicated to connecting, educating and empowering people on the most important issue of our time.

CCS is a hub for all things environmental and sustainability-related. We are the largest climate-related student group at Cambridge University, with over 1000 students signed up to our popular mailing list.

We facilitate knowledge exchanges via our events, talks and workshops with leading figures in climate. We encourage community building by connecting similarly-oriented students, staff and other Cambridge community members, as well as offering career development through our mentorship programme.

Our large committee is made up of over 30 students, each running their own projects and events. Alongside our popular events, we run campaigns and assist other students, local organisations, charities or working groups in furthering their sustainability goals. CCS facilitates positive change across the Cambridge community, from the personal to the institutional level.

Our big current projects include:

  • Cambridge Journal of Climate Research, a new interdisciplinary journal collating short and full-length articles from academics and students alike
  • Education Reform Project, a campaign to adjust curricula across various Cambridge University departments to better incorporate sustainability education
  • College Green Societies Workshops, a campaign to set up environmental societies or groups at every college in Cambridge, ensuring the individual colleges (which are each run independently from the University) are held to account
