MWA is one of Cambridge’s biggest student charity movements that combines a positive philosophy for effective giving with celebration.
We believe that celebrating the impact of thoughtful giving can enrich your experience of May Week, the time at the end of the year when festivities mark the post exam freedom.
Last year we raised more than £50,000 for the Against Malaria Foundation (AMF - independently rated as one of the world's most effective charities), helping protect over 60,000 people from malaria. More than 400 students from across Cambridge donated, and joined the fast growing MWA community.
We invite students to donate an amount significant to them to charity and every donation is doubled through match-funding. We then put on a Summer Party with food, drink and entertainment during May Week where everyone who’s joined MWA that year can come together to celebrate the impact of their donations as well as the end of exams. The idea is that by bringing together celebration and giving, we can change the way students think about charity in the long-term and use our May Week celebrations to have an amazing impact and a wonderful time in the process.
